Professional Experience

Edward J. Florio, born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, is a graduate of Saint Peter's Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey. He graduated from Boston College in 1974 with Bachelor's Degrees in History and Education. Following his college years, Mr. Florio was a teacher of social studies and coached baseball and football at South Windsor High School in South Windsor, Connecticut.

As head baseball coach for nine (9) years, he developed many collegiate athletes from Division 1-A to Division 3 as well as players drafted or signed into the professional ranks. He remains active as a consultant for numerous high school and college coaches and professional athletes. Ed was inducted into the South Windsor High School Hall of Fame on March 7, 2020.

He completed his legal education by attending Western New England College School of Law, part time at night while continuing his teaching career. He graduated from Law School in 1987 and was admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey in December of that year. He began his career as an Attorney at Law in Hoboken in March of 1988, and has been in the private practice of law continuously since that time. Mr. Florio is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey Federal District Court and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

As a litigator and trial attorney, Mr. Florio has established a track record of success. With a primary concentration in tort liability defense, defense of constitutional claims, Election Law, and employment discrimination defense, he has obtained successful results in scores of litigated matters, including trial verdicts in favor of his clients. He has tried cases to verdicts in Federal District Court, the Superior Court of New Jersey, the Office of Administrative Law and successfully represented the interests of clients in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Mr. Florio is General Counsel and Special Litigation Counsel to numerous political, governmental and public entities throughout the State of New Jersey. He has served as coordinating attorney for the John Kerry for President Campaign, the Jon Corzine for Governor Campaign and the Campaign of Robert Menendez for United States Senate. Mr. Florio also was coordinating attorney for the successful campaign for Barack Obama for president of the United States, Steven Fulop for Mayor of Jersey City (2013), and Ras Baraka for Mayor of Newark (2014).
