Christopher K. Harriot, Esq.

Professional Experience

Mr. Harriott is a civil litigation attorney and a member of the Firm’s Government Law, Civil Litigation, Insurance Defense, Insurance Coverage, Administrative Law, Civil Rights, and Employment Law Groups. He began with Florio Kenny Raval in 2005 and was named partner in 2015. He has significant experience representing municipalities and public entities against claims under the Open Public Records Act, Open Public Meetings Act, Local Contracts Law, Municipal Law Use Law, the New Jersey Tort Claims Act, New Jersey Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C. § 1983, Conscientious Employees Protection Act and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination. He has also represented the Firm’s public entity clients in collective bargaining, employee grievance and disciplinary matters, as well as conducting investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment and other workplace wrongdoing. Mr. Harriott has also defended numerous Complaints in Lieu of Prerogative Writs challenging government ordinances and resolutions on a variety of subject matters and has served as outside Cannabis Counsel to several municipalities following the enactment of New Jersey’s Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act. Mr. Harriott also handles personal injury, premises liability, insurance coverage, and employment matters for the Firm’s private sector clients.

Prior to going to Florio Kenny Raval, Mr. Harriott served as law clerk for the Presiding Judge of the Civil Division in Union County, the Honorable William L’E Wertheimer, J.S.C., during the 2001-2002 term and began his legal career specializing in insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation, primarily representing insurance companies under CGL, homeowners, and professional liability policies in environmental, construction defect, asbestos, products liability, and toxic tort matters. He currently handles matters before Federal District Court for District of New Jersey, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, New Jersey Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Law Division, and Office of Administrative Law.
